EVENT CONFIRMED: 2027 Kicks off at the Boot Düsseldorf

The Freestyle Pro Tour returns to boot Düsseldorf from the 29th to 31st of January 2027, bringing the world’s best freestyle windsurfers back to the indoor pool. With an extended pool, €15,000 in prize money, and the opening event of the Tow-In World Series on the line, we’ve got a recipe for a massive opening to the year yet again.

In January, the Freestyle Pro Tour is once again heading back to Düsseldorf for another round of indoor freestyle action at the world’s largest yacht and watersports show! Following up on the insane action and success of the 2026 edition, the event is back with the same three-day format, bringing the world’s best freestylers close to the crowds for a one-of-a-kind spectacle with the action just meters away from the crowd.

The biggest change for 2027 is a bigger competition pool. The longer setup gives riders more room to build speed before throwing their their moves, opening the door to bigger tricks and even more radical action. With big fans lining the pool to generate a little bit of wind to provide riders with maximum freedom when throwing their moves, the limits of tow-in freestyle will once again be pushed to the max with spectators watching from just metres away.

The event will be an invitational, with only the tour’s highest-ranking riders in attendance.

Just as in previous years, entry for the competition will be strictly invite-only. The men’s fleet will feature the top six riders from the 2026 Freestyle Pro Tour rankings, alongside two wildcard entries, making for an eight-rider fleet. In the women’s fleet, the top three riders from the 2026 standings will be joined by one wildcard, bringing the total to four competitors.

With €15,000 in prize money up for grabs, the event will also mark the opening stop of the 2027 Tow-In World Series, giving riders an early opportunity to start off strong in the race for the Tow-In World Series title. Every invited rider is guaranteed €500 in prize money. The top two finishers in each fleet will receive additional prize money, with €1,000 going to second place (for a total of €1,500) and €2,500 going to the winner (for a total of €3,000).

The competition will take place during the closing weekend of boot Düsseldorf, following the same format as the 2026 edition.

  • 29 January: Official training
  • 30 January: Training and qualification
  • 31 January: Head-to-head finals
Yentel Caers (Above) will be entering into this event as reigning Event Winner and Tow-In World Series champion. On the women’s side, it will be Maaike Huvermann entering the event with both these titles.

The event will once again culminate in one-on-one Final showdowns on Sunday, with the top two riders who advance from the Qualifying going head-to-head in front of the crowds to decide the winners.

Three days of action, a bigger pool and the world’s best freestyle riders going all in in front of the crowd: We can’t wait to once again bring the action back to the hangars of the boot Düsseldorf.
