Break the Surface - Season 2025 | Freestyle Insanity in All-Time Conditions in Paros

Break the Surface is back with a new episode, dropping straight into and behind the scenes of one of the defining stops of the 2025 Freestyle Pro Tour season: Paros, Greece. This episode jumps dives straight into the heart of a season already in full swing; with Lennart Neubauer locking wins in Boot Düsseldorf and Cape Town, Yentel Caers striking back in Sardinia, and the title fight had began to take shape before the summer Meltemi even switched on.

And then the insanity of FPT Paros happened.

Four days of full-power wind, stacked fleets, and barely a moment of breathing room on the beach. From the first heats, riders were on small gear and straight into high-flying, full power freestyle. In the single, Sokratis Saraliotis came out guns blazing with a home-soil upset over Bodhi Kempen, while Takumi Moriya went on a tear, eventually meeting Lennart Neubauer in a semifinal that felt like it had no business being that intense that early on the first day of the event. On the other side, Yentel Caers worked through a string of heavy matchups, including a classic with Jacopo Testa, before lining up yet another final against Lennart at the top of the draw. In the Youth and Junior fleet, Pier Bongianni kept things clean at the top, even with Yoad Shaham pushing the pressure all the way.

The excitement in Paros went way beyond just the brackets and the results. With the full-on conditions throughout the entire event, the opportunity to experiment with some new formats on tour arose. This episode also fully dives into these competitions, where Super-X made a return, mixing racing and freestyle chaos, and Game of Surf brought out the creative side of the fleet in a format that felt closer to skate sessions than a competition ladder.

Away from the water, we also took the time to zoom out a bit. This episode opens up the conversation around social media in modern windsurfing, with riders talking about what it means to stay visible, build your own story, and keep momentum in a sport where what happens off the water now matters almost as much as what happens on it.

All of it wrapped into one package: Paros at full volume. A mid-season wind machine where the level peaked, ideas got tested, and the action stayed dialed to 11 throughout the entire contest.
