Caers and Huvermann Crowned in an All-Time Final | FPT Boot Düsseldorf 2026 Day 3 Recap
January 26, 2026
Finals day at Boot Düsseldorf 2026 kicked off with a training session at 09:00, as riders gathered poolside with all four finalists hitting the water to get warmed up and ready for the most important session of the week. With the stands already filling, the tension was building from early in the morning inside Hall 17.
Maaike Huvermann looked as comfortable and consistent as ever, putting her full palette of moves on display. Funnels, Bobs, Culos, and Burners all looked locked down, proving yet again what we’ve known for so long – she’s always THE one to beat in the Women’s fleet. Lisa Kloster was hot on her heels, keeping things consistent with her Funnels, but the big moment of the session for her was unlocking the Tow-In Culo. A major step forward, and a valuable weapon if she was going to bring the fight to Maaike in the finals.

On the men’s side, Lennart Neubauer was firmly locked into Air Funnel Burner mode. With the move defining the entire event up to this point, he pushed hard throughout training to get it dialled and consistent ahead of the final, knowing just how vital it would be if he wanted to take the title.
And then Yentel Caers hit the pool.
With the Air Funnel Burner being the centerpiece move of the entire event so far, the expectation was that Yentel would try to match Lennart’s Air Funnel Burner game. Instead, he flipped the script completely. He threw the same kind of rotation, but in Regular stance, facing the other way around; a massive Air Bob Culo. Repopping so high that even his opponent Lennart admitted that “Yentel’s double pops that session were absolutely insane,” the move instantly sent shockwaves through Hall 17. Jaws dropped, cheers erupted, and suddenly the entire tone of the finals shifted, with Yentel emerging as the new favourite.

The finalists then met for a skippers’ meeting at 11:00, where another curveball appeared. The format for the finals would be different to the qualifiers. The riders would battle it out in a head-to-head, move-versus-move format, with each round scored separately. Each move would be directly compared between the two riders, and the rider with the better move from that run would get a point. First rider to three points would win. There was a twist, however: once a rider scored a point with a move, they could not repeat that move again. Moves could only be reused if they lost a round in which the move had been performed.
At 12:00, it was time.
The women were up first, with Lisa Kloster and Maaike Huvermann hitting the water. Both riders pulled out everything we had seen from them throughout the weekend in training. Lisa looked strong, landing clean Funnels and even a super-clean Culo on her second run, but Maaike was on another level – a sight we’re all too familiar with at this point. An Air Funnel on her first run, a Culo on her second, and a Burner on her third sealed a dominant 3–0 sweep. The Burner, in particular, was a powerful moment. The same move she had been injured doing in Naxos at the end of 2025, it marked a redemption arc completed and a statement start to her 2026 campaign, with Lisa Kloster finishing as a well-deserved runner-up.

Then came the men’s final, and it delivered absolute fireworks.
Up first, Lennart Neubauer went hunting for the Air Funnel Burner. He landed it on his opening run, but not quite as clean as he would have hoped, barely making it around the second rotation. Yentel Caers fired straight back, stomping an even cleaner Air Funnel Burner of his own to take the first point. In the second round, Yentel smashed out a perfect Double Culo, while Lennart crashed an Air Funnel Funnel Clock, quickly putting Yentel up 2–0.
On his third run, Yentel went looking for the Air Bob Culo we had seen in the morning training session again, but crashed it, almost flying out of the pool in the process. Lennart capitalized, finally landing his Air Funnel Burner to bring the score back to 2–1. He followed it up with a Double Culo of his own as Yentel missed on a Double Burner, leveling the score at 2–2 and sending the entire final into a last-run showdown.
Lennart was up first. He went hunting for the Air Bob Culo, but no cigar. He overcooked the Air Bob and was unable to properly pop into the Culo, leaving the door wide open. Yentel stepped up and calmly secured the victory with a clean, controlled Burner Funnel, sealing the win in dramatic fashion.
